09:15 – Qoricancha – Temple of the Sun
Our first visit takes us to the majestic Qoricancha, the most sacred temple of the Inca Empire, dedicated to the god Inti, the Sun. Its walls were once entirely covered in sheets of gold, reflecting the site’s immense importance in the Andean worldview. Today, it blends Inca architecture with the colonial structure of the Convent of Santo Domingo, creating a unique atmosphere where two worlds—the Inca and the Spanish—overlap. Here, you’ll explore its corridors and halls, discovering fascinating stories about rituals, astronomy, and the spiritual power that was concentrated within these walls.
09:50 – Calle Siete Borreguitos (Seven Little Lambs Street)
We continue to one of Cusco’s most picturesque and charming streets: Calle Siete Borreguitos. This short stroll allows you to soak in the essence of traditional Cusco, with its colonial balconies, colorful flowerpots, and the bohemian atmosphere that characterizes this neighborhood. It’s the perfect place to capture photos full of charm and authenticity.
10:10 – Tambomachay
Leaving the historic center, we head toward the outskirts of the city to visit Tambomachay, known as the “Bath of the Inca.” This small yet impressive archaeological site is associated with water worship and purification rituals. Here, you’ll hear the crystal-clear sounds of its aqueducts and channels, which still function after centuries, and marvel at the precision of Inca hydraulic engineering.
10:30 – Puca Pucara
Just a few minutes from Tambomachay, we find Puca Pucara, the “Red Fortress.” It’s named for the reddish hue its stones take on at sunset. This archaeological site served military purposes and controlled routes leading to the Sacred Valley and the city of Cusco. From here, you’ll enjoy panoramic views that help you appreciate the scale of the Inca Empire and its defensive strategy.
10:50 – Sulca Textiles Museum
On our way back to the city, we make a stop at the exclusive Sulca Textiles Museum, where you’ll discover the Andean textile legacy. You’ll enjoy a private demonstration of ancient weaving techniques using fine fibers such as alpaca and vicuña. Additionally, you’ll admire a collection of high-end garments that result from a fusion of tradition and contemporary design.
11:20 – Sacsayhuamán
Our tour continues to one of the most impressive monuments of Inca architecture: Sacsayhuamán.
